Family fun and gratitude for the people who pull together to keep our families rolling along!
(LEAWOOD, KAN, April 26, 2017) Park Place, Shawnee Mission Health and Raised with Love and Limits have teamed up to hold a special inspirational and celebratory event for families on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 in Barkley Square at Park Place in Leawood, Kan. The event begins with a “Red Wagon Parade” to thank everyone who pulls together to keep our families rolling along. The celebration continues with live music from Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove, a magician performance and various family activities. The theme, “Rally for Kids,” represents the mission of Kansas City non-profit organization, Raised with Love and Limits Foundation, with the event serving as a fundraiser for this valuable community effort.
Peggy Dunn, Leawood Mayor and grandmother of 13, will be the honorary Red Wagon Parade Grand Marshal. Families will be encouraged to decorate their wagons, strollers, bicycles and trikes or simply walk with decorated signs and stickers for the celebration honoring supportive family members, neighbors and friends. The parade is open to the public with participants gathering at the intersection of Ash Street and 115th Terrace in Park Place prior to the parade beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Early parade registration will take place at The Learning Tree toy store in Park Place (11536 Ash Street) or online at The Learning Tree’s web site. A $10 suggested donation at registration will support the Raised with Love and Limits Foundation for preventing adverse childhood experience and toxic stress to improve children’s health, learning and behavior. Pre-registering enters families into a drawing to win a Kettler Tricycle from the Learning Tree and an invitation to a free event, the “Red Wagon Parade Sign Decorating Party,” from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th at The Learning Tree.
The parade will lead into Barkley Square where Fox4 News Anchor John Holt will emcee a brief presentation to honor the first annual “Red Wagon Leader Award” to community supporters, Bob Regnier, President/CEO of Bank of Blue Valley, and his wife Ann Regnier. Immediately following the award presentation, guests will enjoy live music from Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove. Performances will also feature a magic show then more live music from the School of Rock.
